Within South Africa
Domestic airlines operating within South Africa all require pets to be vaccinated accordingly.
General information:
- The minimum age for pets to travel is 8 weeks old.
- Bookings require at least 48 hours (2 working days) to be reviewed and confirmed by the airline.
- A copy of the vet book (info page and vaccination page) is required to submit a flight booking request.
- If a puppy or kitten, a copy of the mother’s vet book (info page and vaccination page) is also required to submit a flight booking request.
For Puppies and Kittens to Travel between 8 and 12 Weeks of Age:
- The mother must have a valid rabies vaccination.
The vaccination is only considered valid if it was given at least 30 days prior to the date of birth & not older than 12 months. - At least one vaccination for Canine Distemper (or Adenovirus Type 2) Parvovirus and Para-influenza OR Feline Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus, Panleukopenia and Leukaemia no less than 14 days prior to travelling.
Older Dogs and Cats (12 Weeks and Older):
- Rabies, Canine Distemper (or Adenovirus Type 2) Parvovirus and Para-influenza OR Rabies, Feline Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus, Panleukopenia no less than 14 days prior to travelling but not older than 12 months, unless it is a booster vaccination.
